Time to bounce back…
…after a tough weekend. We went 0-2 losing to Waukegan and Loyola. We weren’t the team this past weekend that we had been for the first seven games of the season. We didn’t practice the way we should have and it costed us two games.
We started this week with a good practice yesterday and need to keep it going the rest of the week because the road doesn’t get easier. We have CSL South opponent Niles West this Friday (12.16.11) who will be eager to earn their first conference win this year….We can’t allow them to accomplish that against us.

McDipper Christmas Tournament
We are very excited to be headed to the McDipper Christmas Tournament this year. This is one of the most storied tournaments in the state. The field is always loaded with good teams, players, and coaches. Evanston has been represented in this tournament before. We hold a 17-5 record at the McDipper. We also have back to back championships (83-84) in this tournament, current Assistant Coach Steve Wool was apart of those championship teams. Hopefully he will bring his championship touch to the Wildkits this year and we can walk out of the McDipper with the 2011 Championship Trophy.
Following the link to see the matchups. We open with Rich East the first game.
Evanston Tradition
Great story on the tradition of Evanston Hoops! We will get back to the days of Everett Stephens, Bob Lackey & Jack Burmaster!

Sun-Times Top 25
Nice to be recognized in the top 25 by the Chicago Sun-Times. Took us seven games to get in, it will only take one to get knocked out.
Have to stay humble and hungry.
Sun-Times preview of the CSL South
No doubt that the CSL South is a very tough conference! We got some work to do if we want to repeat as conference champs!
No days off!
Big Bob Clayborn….
Great article about Bob Clayborn. Although things didn’t work out for him last year, he stayed positive, worked on his game and is/will be a big reason to our success this year.
P.S. according to the article headline…I’m going to start calling BOB…EVAN hahaha

Conference Opener vs Maine South
We are now 7-0 after saturday’s game against Maine South. It is safe to say we didn’t play a great game, but we did build a lot of character and gained even more confidence as a team. We didn’t have a lead in the game until the very end, we didn’t make shots that we normally make, and had to play at a much slower pace than we like. With all of that we found a way not to let Maine South pull away from us and stick around in the game.
We learned a lot about ourselves after that game:
1. That we can overcome adversity – Last year this is a game we would have lost!
2. When have a bad shooting performance we can win a game with our defense and rebounding
3. Each player is playing for the guy next to him!

-Congrats to the Sophomore team for pulling out a come back win and staying undefeated.
-The Freshman A team was defeated in their game, but there is a lot of talent on that team and good coaching so I know they will bounce back and be ready to go Monday against Loyola!
-The Freshman B team also came out victorious.
Again it is early in the season, keep working hard and getting better each day!

It was fun being able to break out our new court to a home crowd Tuesday. It’s nice when you actually get to display all the hard work you’ve put in, because the whole spring, summer, and preseason you look forward to the season and it’s great that games are in full force now. As we get into December, our whole team knows it’s an important month. We started off well by winning the Lane Tech Tournament and beating Maine East, now we have to get better as a team because we start conference play against a tough Maine South team. Practices have been good lately, I try to approach practice with a positive attitude everyday, and know in my head the little things I need to come ready to improve upon each day. Each day reminds me that my teammates and I have to stay focused over these next few months, bring it every night, and go out with a bang!
